On iPhone, AstroStackerPro is optimized for recent chips and cameras capable of long exposures: the official requirement is iOS 26 or later. The Android version is in closed testing on Google Play: the final minimum requirements are still being defined, and we’ll publish them at release.

The app uses the modern capture, image-processing and UI APIs introduced in iOS 26. Targeting only the latest versions lets us offer a more solid experience and keep the codebase easier to maintain.

Yes. The app is offline-first and always works without an internet connection: capture, stacking, denoise and export never rely on a network connection.

No. Your images and projects stay on your device. There are no servers managed by the developer to which photos are sent.

The 6 presets are starter configurations for the most popular targets: Moon, Jupiter and planets, Starry sky, Deep sky, Star Trails. On iPhone there is also Illuminated night; on Android there is Saturn. You pick a preset, the app sets sensible starting parameters, then you fine-tune exposure, ISO and frame count by hand. It always starts from a sequence of shots, never from video: the app stacks up to 200 frames in the manual control, with sigma-clip.

For astrophotography the main enemy is light pollution. From a city you can still capture the Moon, the brightest planets and some subjects, but for the Milky Way and deep-sky objects you really need to move to a darker location.

From the export screen you pick the format that fits: JPEG for quick sharing, and 16-bit TIFF when you want the full color depth for external editing and printing.

Send us an email describing the problem, ideally attaching screenshots or a screen recording, and including device model, OS version and app version. See the “Report a problem” section below for details.

No. AstroStackerPro is not designed for solar photography and we don’t encourage that use on this site. Shooting the Sun without certified filters can permanently damage your camera and your eyes.

Yes, and it’s already available, in two separate steps. While you’re framing, GPS and motion sensors place stars, constellations, the Moon and planets in the viewfinder (accurate to a few degrees). Once the stack is done, field recognition (plate-solving) matches star triangles against a local catalog and tells you which constellation you shot.

At launch the app is dark mode only. A light theme and a native iPad version are on the future roadmap.

Yes, there’s a built-in Planner. It gives you an estimate of the Bortle class of your location, the Moon phase, the planets visible tonight and “what to shoot tonight”, plus a meteor-shower calendar. Head out knowing exactly what’s up there.

Yes, and it’s already available. The intervalometer saves frames straight to Photos, perfect for star trails and time-lapses. You also get focus peaking for precise focus and a red mode that protects your night vision.

Everything you need to make the subject pop: noise reduction, sharpening, saturation, exposure, contrast, shadows and highlights, plus a three-state digital astro filter for light pollution (Off/Auto/On) and night tonal recovery. Work the final image until you love it, all on-device.
