Short pitch

AstroStackerPro is an app that brings serious astrophotography (multi-frame stacking, automatic frame alignment, local astronomical info and pro-grade export) into a single phone, in public beta on iPhone and in closed testing on Android, with no account and no cloud.

Long description

AstroStackerPro is built for people who want to do astrophotography with their phone (in public beta on iPhone, in closed testing on Android): start tonight with the Moon handheld and, when you move to deep sky, mount the phone on your rig. Capture, alignment, stacking and export all happen on the phone: to get started you don’t need a dedicated astro camera, and the laptop stays home. It shoots sequences of the night sky and stacks them (up to 200 frames in the manual control, always from photos, never from video) with sigma-clip: it discards satellites, planes and hot pixels, then averages the rest, revealing stars, the Milky Way and detail invisible to the naked eye. It captures in Linear DNG where the phone and lens allow it, with automatic fallback to 10-bit HEVC; on the Moon and planets, the session automatically splits into short and long exposures and merges them into a single file. Automatic frame alignment after the shot, based on star matching, compensates for small shifts between frames. Six guided presets (Moon, Jupiter and planets, Starry Sky, Deep Sky, Star Trails; on iPhone also Illuminated Night, on Android also Saturn) take you straight to the result, always with the same stacking method. The on-device editor refines the shot with noise reduction, sharpening, saturation, exposure, contrast, shadows, highlights and a three-state digital astro filter for light pollution; while shooting, GPS and motion sensors annotate stars, constellations, the Moon and planets in the viewfinder; field recognition (plate-solving) runs once the stack is done and tells you which constellation you shot. The built-in planner tells you what to shoot tonight (an estimate of your location’s Bortle class, the Moon, visible planets, meteor showers). You also get a solar safety warning the first time you open the app, an intervalometer, focus peaking and a red mode to preserve night vision. On iPhone a capture session always saves two files, JPEG and 16-bit TIFF; on Android the TIFF is optional; from the Editor you pick one format at a time, and you can import existing shots for stacking and editing. Everything stays on-device, with zero network connections: no account, no analytics, no server of our own.
